Garuda Indonesia announced the temporary closure of the Jakarta – Malang (GA290) and Malang – Jakarta (GA291) routes as an anticipatory measure related to indications of Mount Semeru eruption activity that could potentially jeopardize flight safety. This decision was made by prioritizing the safety and comfort of all passengers.
Passengers who have purchased tickets for routes from and to Malang (both domestic and international routes) are entitled to the following compensation:
- Changes
- Reroute to Surabaya (SUB) is made without change fee as long as the compartment used is still the same. If the basic fare cost of reroute from Malang (MLG) to Surabaya (SUB) is lower, the price difference will be refunded to the passenger and if the fare price of reroute is higher, no additional fee will be charged.
- Reroute to a route other than Surabaya (SUB), if the price of the new reroute is lower for the same compartment, the price difference will be refunded to the passenger, if the price of the new route basic fare for the same compartment is higher, the price difference will be billed to the passenger. Change penalty is not applicable.
- Refund
- Allowed to full refund process without penalty.
Transportation from Surabaya to Malang and Malang to Surabaya will be provided free of charge during the travel period of 23 – 30 September 2024.
