Jakarta, 5 May 2025 - Garuda Indonesia Group is committed to enhancing its production capacity despite the current challenges in the global aviation industry, particularly the disruptions in the aircraft spare parts supply chain, which are affecting most of the world’s air transportation companies.
As part of these efforts to optimize production capacity, one Garuda Indonesia aircraft and 14 Citilink aircraft are currently awaiting the acceleration of routine maintenance scheduling. This maintenance includes heavy processes (overhaul), such as spare part replacements, and will ensure the aircraft are ready for operation. The entire fleet maintenance process is scheduled to be completed this year.
The limited supply of spare parts is a widespread issue across the aviation industry, resulting in longer timelines for conducting heavy maintenance.
It is important to note that the heavy maintenance process is essential to ensure safety and airworthiness standards are upheld before the aircraft are operated.
In line with these fleet optimization efforts, Garuda Indonesia has added four narrow-body aircraft since the end of 2024, specifically the Boeing 737-800NG models. Two of these aircraft (PK-GUF and PK-GUG) are already in service, while the remaining two (PK-GUH and PK-GUI) are set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025. This initiative supports the post-pandemic recovery in travel demand, the surge in passenger traffic, and the strong growth of the national tourism sector.
The optimization of production capacity will continue to be aligned with the company’s performance outlook and market demand trends. This approach ensures the continued strengthening of a sustainable business foundation.
Garuda Indonesia remains optimistic in its transformation into an agile and competitive airline, delivering safe and reliable air transportation services to the public.
