As the capital city of the state of Victoria, Melbourne has always been known as a dynamic city.   1. State Library of Victoria
    When you are walking through the city center of Melbourne along Swanston Street, there will be one building that stands out, located just across the street from shopping center Melbourne Central. The State Library of Victoria, is one of the greatest libraries in the world, and is the primary place for reference and research library in Victoria. Founded in 1854, the State Library of Victoria is also famed for its spacious front lawn where Melbournians love to lounge around at, enjoying a sunny day out in the city. The Library’s collection goes well beyond just books, as it houses thousands of significant items that reflect Victoria’s cultural and social heritage, as its initial ambition was to become a ‘great emporium of learning and philosophy, of literature, science and art’.   2. National Gallery of Victoria International
    If the Ian Potter Center: NGV Australia houses artworks that are quintessentially Australian, National Gallery of Victoria International in St. Kilda Road houses all kinds of artworks from around the world. As Australia’s oldest and most prominent public art museum, NGV International hosts massive exhibitions and has one of the finest art collections in the world. At NGV International, you will be able to find collections that comprises findings from ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and the pre-Columbian period, in addition to an Oceanic gallery dedicated to the indigenous cultures of the Pacific area. You will also be able to find a collection of European and British paintings that date all the way back from 1200 until today, as well as collections of fashion and textile exhibitions, photography and sculpture.

  3. Flinders Street Station
    One of Melbourne’s favorite meeting place, so much so that Melbournians have a catch-phrase when it comes to this place - ‘meet me under the clocks’, as they would say. The clocks refer to the massive clock that stands atop the main gate of Flinders Street Station. Australia’s oldest train station and the city’s icon, Flinders Street Station is known for its distinctive yellow facade and green copper dome. Flinders is also the busiest suburban railway station, with over 1500 trains and 110,000 commuters passing through each day, as the station houses all trains that go to all suburbs of Melbourne.
